no, the reason why they take that long is because they're not talented enough to create their own shots quickly so they have to wait until they can find someone who is completely wide open. They have to play at a slower pace. It's the same reason why they have a longer shot clock in college basketball, and generally no shot clock in high school ball.

it's because of people like you that we have kids with hyphenated names. I can't believe you're actually telling me that you not only watch, but enjoy, the WNBA, and that you think it's a quality product.

WNBA players are smaller, slower, less athletic, not as good of shooters, not as good of passers, not as good of rebounders, and have to miss seasons due to pregnancy.
