According to Terry Pluto of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians are keeping an eye on free agent outfielder Jermaine Dye.
Dye hasn't received much of interest of late and the Indians are currently seeking a veteran right-handed bat. Travis Hafner is the primary designated hitter, so Dye would have to play in the outfield, where he is a severe liability. Jonny Gomes and Russell Branyan are also possibilities, according to Pluto. It may ultimately come down to who is willing to accept a minor league deal or a modest one-year deal. -rotoworld

Please god no, keep Dye out of the Central. The guy is a notorious Tiger slayer with his bat...

The Indians wouldn't be good regardless, but he always kills the Twins, too.

If he's on the Indians, I don't really care, just keep him away from Chicago and Detroit.

Dye just cant keep his season going after the All-Star break. He also sucks in the field as well.

I'd be pretty happy if we signed him, I've always loved Dye. Not that it will make the Indians a respectable team either way, I'm preparing myself for the worst year of Indians baseball in a long, long time.

Dye can still be a solid bat in the lineup but the Indians should just let the young guys play.

Dye hit .179 with a .590 OPS after the All-Star Break, with only seven homers and 29 RBI.
Yeah, I'll pass. The Indians are going to start the season with Brantley in left, Sizemore in center, and Choo in right. A healthy Hafner would be the DH and we also have the uncertainty on the position of Matt LaPorta. If we brought in Dye on an incentives based contract with a very low guaranteed salary, I'd be for it, but if we paid him $3 million or more, I'd think it's a huge mistake and should go into our starting rotation. |
