Default Beltran Not Happy With The Mets

Joel Sherman of the New York Post writes that Carlos Beltran (knee) is furious with the Mets.

Sherman writes that Beltran wonders if he should have played at all last season and therefore doesn't expect him to prioritize the team this time around. How he knows exactly what is going on in Beltran's head is anybody's guess, but the Mets will have to get by with Angel Pagan and Gary Matthews Jr. in center field for at least a little while.

Can you blame him though? When he got there, they were competing for a World Series, now they're down in the dumps and most, if not all fans are unhappy with the situation at-hand.

I think he is more sick of the media. Beltran is a very quiet guy and I think with all the NY media judging him all the time he wants out. I also think the whole surgery fiasco definately left a bad taste in his mouth with the Organization. It might be time to move on for both parties.

Beltran is mainly upset over the way they handled his injury, even with the whole issue after his surgery about them not giving clearance, and yada yada.

Obviously anybody would be upset about not being a contender but that's not his concern, his concern is how the team has gone about handling his injury; and after seeing the injury explosion last season, I can't blame the guy. This ownership is screwing things up and the whole front office is a mess. Hopefully after this season Omar will be out and they can sort that mess out.

Time for them to part ways? Stupid idea.. just stupid. Guy is on a hefty contract, he's an all-around guy because he can hit for average, power, run the bases well and is an incredible outfielder. The Mets would be out of their minds to trade him, and with his injuries last season and his surgery this offseason, they would not get good value out of him. They gotta hang on to this guy and work things out.

So basically your willing to have one of your best players be totally against the Front Office and has voiced his frustration with the ball club, to still be on your team. I dont know if thats always the right path to go down. The good thing for the Mets is that Beltran is usually a quiet go about his business guy. I still think it would be a great Idea to guage interest in Beltran.

It essentially comes down to the fact that Beltran wanted to do what was best for him as a player, which was having the surgery despite possibly missing the beginning of the season, whereas the front office wanted as hard as possible to avoid surgery so that he would be ready for the season, even if it meant Beltran would be playing through pain. That's pretty much what I've gotten out of this. I personally am siding with Beltran on this one.
